01 Our commitment
Hartwell Search LLC is dedicated to ensuring digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities. We continuously refine the user experience for all visitors and apply the relevant accessibility standards to our website (hartwellsearch.com) and to our recruiting services.
Accessibility is not a formality; it is a fundamental requirement of the work we do. As a recruiting firm that places candidates from every background, we hold that our own digital tools must be usable by every candidate — including those who navigate the web using screen readers, keyboard-only input, magnifiers, switch devices, or alternative input methods.
02 Conformance standard
Our website is built to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard cited by the US Department of Justice in ADA Title III enforcement and is broadly recognized as the practical benchmark for accessible web content.
We additionally reference Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act and the European Accessibility Act (EAA) where relevant to our cross-border operations.
03 Accessibility features
The following accessibility features are implemented across our website:
3.1 — Visual design
- Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA minimums (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text);
- No information is conveyed by color alone; we always pair color with text labels, icons, or shapes;
- Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality;
- Focus indicators are visible and high-contrast on all interactive elements.
3.2 — Keyboard & navigation
- All functionality is operable through a keyboard alone (Tab, Enter, Space, Escape, Arrow keys);
- Logical tab order follows the visual reading order;
- Skip-to-content links are provided on multi-section pages;
- No keyboard traps exist on any page;
- The site honors browser-level user preferences such as
prefers-reduced-motion.
3.3 — Screen readers & structure
- Semantic HTML5 elements (
nav,main,article,aside,section) are used throughout; - Heading levels (
h1throughh4) follow a logical, sequential hierarchy; - ARIA labels and roles are provided for interactive elements;
- All images include descriptive
altattributes (or emptyaltfor purely decorative content); - Form fields have associated labels, helper text, and inline error messaging.
3.4 — Multimedia
- Video content (when used) includes synchronized captions and descriptive transcripts;
- Audio content includes a complete text transcript;
- Auto-playing media is disabled by default.
04 Assistive technology
Our website has been tested and confirmed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies on current operating systems and browsers:
| Assistive technology | Tested with |
|---|---|
| VoiceOver (macOS, iOS) | Safari, Chrome |
| NVDA (Windows) | Firefox, Chrome, Edge |
| JAWS (Windows) | Chrome, Edge |
| TalkBack (Android) | Chrome |
| Dragon NaturallySpeaking | Chrome |
| Browser zoom & magnifiers | All major browsers, up to 400% |
If you use an assistive technology not listed above and experience difficulties, please inform us — we want to hear about it.
05 Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, certain areas of our website may not yet be fully accessible. The following known limitations and active remediation plans are currently in place:
- Interactive US map: the geographic markers on our "Our Offices" map use SVG with keyboard support, but voice-control of the markers requires a tab-based fallback. An accessible text-only office list is provided immediately below the map.
- Third-party embeds: Google Maps iframes (used for individual office locations) inherit Google’s own accessibility implementation, which is outside our direct control.
- Live chat widget: if you use our live chat, we recommend Chrome or Edge with NVDA for the best experience.
We are actively working to resolve each of these items and welcome reports of any additional issues.
06 Third-party content
Our website may contain content, embeds, or links from third parties (such as Google Maps, partner logos, or career portals operated by client employers). These are subject to the accessibility practices of their respective providers, over which Hartwell Search exercises limited control. We make a best-effort selection of third-party providers that satisfy WCAG 2.1 AA standards, and we will work with you to supply an accessible alternative for any third-party content you are unable to access.
